The large limbs are then cut into smaller pieces and lowered slowly to the ground by using heavy duty ropes designed for tree removal work. Small branches are removed from the outside of the tree canopy, and dropped safely to the ground. After all the branches have been removed, all that remains is the tree trunk. At that point, the tree removal crew then removes the smaller sections of the trunk from the top down. The base of the tree trunk is cut as low feasible, usually a few inches above ground.
The key to safely removing a large tree is years of experience combined with an established skill set. One of the important skill sets is the proper rigging of the ropes which are attached to the climber’s harness, as well as to the limbs so that they can be safely lowered to the ground. Utilizing the proper rigging results in the tree removal process being safe and efficient.
